Our latest article is about Rails Slices, as presented by some folks from Engine Yard at Rails Conf 2009 as videoed by Luigi Montanez and posted on Vimeo.
The short and sweet is that to make Blogs, Forums, Carts, CMS’s etc. plug-and-playable [i.e. interchangeable] will require standardization of the core API and database schema, respectively, of these popular kinds of slices. For example, each ‘blog slice’ [plug-and-play mini blog application] will have a users table, a posts table, a comments table etc. Some of the positive side-effects are standardized core test suites.
Cool huh?
